I am in a lemongrass faze. I want to experience as many recipes as I can, using lemongrass. I’ve used lemongrass in savory dishes, but never in something sweet. I thought I’ll give it a try and start with an apple cake. I just want to use simple ingredients as I want to actually taste the lemongrass in it. Except vanilla, no cinnamon or nutmeg nor sultanas as I like to use paired with apples. It’s officially soup season and I think nothing goes better with a warm hearty bowl of soup, but homemade bread!

As pumpkin, squash, sweet potatoes have been present in almost every dish I made lately, a tomato soup is in order for today. I don’t fancy classic today, and I also want to bring closer a piece of summer, so I am using some roasted bell peppers I have in my freezer. The sweetness in the peppers will balance the acidity of the tomatoes and I am not going to use any sugar to do that. And to make it soft and creamy and to reduce the calories by not using cream or butter, 1/4 cup of rice will work like magic! Trust me. [Read more…]

Sweet or savory cooking pumpkin is always fun for me. Fun and challenging.
As pumpkin, in my opinion, is extremely versatile, I do find it challenging to keep the taste of the pumpkin and not lose it with too many other ingredients. What I can say for sure is that cinnamon, nutmeg, honey and chilli are extremely friendly ingredients and goes perfectly with the sweet flesh of the pumpkin. [Read more…]
